Dr. HinshawDr. John V. Hinshaw
President and Principal Scientist

John Hinshaw worked in gas chromatography instrument R&D for twenty years until founding ChromSource in 1999. Dr. Hinshaw worked at PerkinElmer for sixteen years, variously as GC Technology Manager with worldwide responsibility, Senior Staff Scientist, and GC Applications Manager. At PE he was involved in instrument specification, design, development, implementation, applications, support, and marketing, both of hardware as well as software systems and their components. Currently, Dr. Hinshaw is Sr. Research Scientist at Serveron Corporation, where he as worked on the design and implementation of online analyzers since 2002.

To date, Dr. Hinshaw has published over 130 scientific papers, books, and chapters, plus six patents. He has traveled extensively worldwide, presenting more than 100 technical papers, training courses, and business presentations in the Americas, Europe, and the Far East. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Subcommittee E-13.19 on Separation Science (Subcommittee Chairman, 1999-present) and Committee D-27 on Electrical Insulating Fluids, and the International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Dr. Hinshaw received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Duke University in 1979.

In addition to his involvement with instrument R&D, Dr. Hinshaw is well known for his contributions as the “GC Connections” and “GC Troubleshooting” editor at LC·GC Magazine since 1988. He serves on the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Separation Science, the Journal of Chromatographic Science, and LC·GC Magazine.

Beth Ann Hinshaw
Graphic Designer

Beth Hinshaw has twenty years experience as a graphic designer and editor, working in product design and advertising. Before coming to ChromSource, she ran her own graphic design company, Laser Images, where she created and produced numerous brochures, data sheets, business materials, books, and cover art. She has extensive experience editing technical papers and books, and has made several GC injections that resulted in published chromatograms (see an example).
